What Caught Our Eye This Month
Ripple joined the x402 Foundation as a premier member. The organization, which is in partnership with the Linux Foundation, acts as a governing body for the x402 protocol, an onchain agentic payments system, that has processed over $28 million in agentic payments volume.
Ripple launched Ripple Mint, a platform that consolidates how customers mint, redeem, and manage RLUSD. The product gives institutions more ways to work with RLUSD, letting them move fiat in and out, bridge RLUSD across supported chains, and monitor a transaction's full lifecycle.
Ripple also invested in Notabene, an onchain verification company for institutions. The deal includes a commitment to integrate RLUSD into Notabene Flow, its platform for business-to-business stablecoin payments. Rundown
Ripple and XRP Rundown
➡️ What happened: Ripple has invested in both ZILO and Licuido to enhance its tokenization stack. ZILO is a global transfer agency and fund administration technology provider, and Licuido runs a tokenization and asset liquidity platform.
Both companies were already Ripple partners, and the investments deepen those relationships by bringing regulated transfer agency, issuance, and collateral mobility capabilities directly into Ripple's infrastructure on the XRP Ledger (XRPL).
➡️ Why it matters: ZILO provides digital record-keeping so that asset managers and custodians can track ownership of their tokenized assets, while Licuido handles issuance, distribution and execution, allowing assets to be used as collateral on the XRPL.
Through the investments, Ripple is expanding its product offering to include tokenization, regulated record keeping, and the ability to use assets as collateral to borrow, lend or post margin. Additionally, RLUSD supports all of these actions by acting as the cash layer within transactions.
This builds upon Ripple's earlier collaboration with Aviva Investors to tokenize traditional fund structures on the XRPL, as well as its existing relationships with Franklin Templeton and DBS.
➡️ The big picture: ZILO and Licuido bring two capabilities to Ripple: regulated transfer agency infrastructure and collateral mobility. Combined with its existing custody, issuance and settlement tools, the investments improve the network’s capital markets offering.
