Welcome to the Stellar Overview. In this edition, we look at PwC’s securitization settlement on Stellar; State Street and Galaxy’s new fund; the integration of CCTP on Stellar; and the launch of new foreign assets on the network.

A Big Move We’re Watching: PwC Germany brings securitization settlement to Stellar

PwC Germany has developed an automated securitization settlement system on Stellar with the Stellar Development Foundation, Tokenforge and AllUnity. The system has been developed for receivables management company EOS Group.

Securitization payouts can be difficult to manage because loan pools of consumer debt, leases or mortgages are packaged and sold to several classes of investors who get paid in order of priority each month, with safer positions paid first and the riskier ones after. The calculations for these payouts are typically done using spreadsheets or legacy software, and checked across several intermediaries, which can take 30 days or more per cycle.

PwC’s new system turns those payout rules into smart contracts that calculate each investor’s share automatically and settles payments in AllUnity’s MiCA-regulated euro stablecoin. This allows the process to be shrunk to a single day, and be compliant with the EU’s securitization rules.

Exploring Stellar’s institutional side

  • State Street Investment Management and Galaxy launched the State Street Galaxy Onchain Liquidity Sweep Fund (SWEEP), a tokenized cash management fund that lets qualified investors subscribe and redeem in stablecoins.

    • The fund leverages Stellar’s built-in issuer controls for authorization, freezing, and clawbacks.

  • DFNS added support for Circle’s Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol so USDC can be redeemed and issued on Stellar.

    • The stablecoin is burned on one chain and reissued directly by Circle on the other instead of being passed through a bridge or using a wrapped version.

    • The process aims to make it easier for payment companies to bring stablecoin liquidity onto Stellar for remittances and cross-border payouts.

  • Etherfuse announced PHTRY, a tokenized version of 90-day Philippine government treasury bills, and PHLe, a peso token backed 1:1 by those bills.

    • The products are meant to give holders a way to earn yield on Philippine sovereign debt onchain, but with no minimum limits, and redemptions can be made at any time.

  • Stellar integrated Chainlink Data Feeds and Data Streams to the network. This lets developers bring live price data into lending markets and other DeFi apps, so tokenized RWAs on the network can be traded, borrowed against, and used as collateral.

Diving into Stellar’s ecosystem

  • The Stellar Development Foundation joined the Blockchain Association’s new Vaults Workstream, a group that will work directly with the SEC and lawmakers to determine how existing regulatory frameworks should apply to onchain vaults. The seat gives SDF a voice in shaping U.S. policy around vaults.

  • Denelle Dixon, CEO of the Stellar Development Foundation, spoke on The Defiant podcast about the network’s $4B RWA market, and why privacy is important for institutional adoption.

  • Ultra Token launched a protocol on Stellar that lets users hold 1:1 bridged ETH, BTC, SOL, or XRP to earn yield.

    • Assets are custodied with the users themselves, and can be redeemed at any time.

  • Zenith Protocols launched Zenex, an onchain perpetual futures exchange, on Stellar.
