Injecting The Biggest Developments
🥷 What’s happening: Pineapple Financial has tokenized more than $1 billion in residential mortgage records on Injective.
🥷 Why it matters: Each mortgage is represented by an onchain record tied to the underlying loan file, acting as a digital counterpart holding the loan’s data, ownership history, and updates.
Mortgage records are typically spread across PDFs, email threads, and separate internal systems, so, in many cases, custodians and counterparties have to reconcile ownership and servicing details manually. Putting the record onchain gives approved participants one version to review instead of multiple copies of the same record.
🥷 The bigger picture: Pineapple’s tokenization effort is being run alongside Injective Mint, which lets companies define an asset and set who can hold, issue, redeem or administer it. Tokenizing mortgage records may serve as a useful litmus test for Injective, too, since the debt is real and the value comes from a market that has existing interest.
Pineapple has migrated a portion of its book so far against a stated target of its full historical portfolio of more than 29,000 mortgages.
Expanding The Financial Ecosystem
Updates on the latest network of dApps, validators, builders and more helping Injective expand its financial use cases.
Injective removed 25,200 INJ, worth roughly $120,500, from supply during its September Community BuyBack. Monthly token burns reduce the circulating supply, improving asset scarcity and deflation.
Injective said its contributors implemented an “accelerated” network upgrade following an exploit that affected “a small number” of ecosystem applications running binary options markets. The network said no staked or unstaked funds were compromised.
Injective ended August with its daily active users hitting an all-time high of 109.6K, up 25% compared to July’s 87.3K total.
Code commits to Injective’s GitHub in the last 30 days reached 2,000, the highest among all layer-1 blockchains. This rise in developer activity can be attributed to the network’s focus on AI and app development last month.
UpOnly launched a perpetual futures trading app on Injective for memecoins. The platform only accepts max long or max short bets.
Popular memecoin trading platform Dexscreener now lists Injective.
Motion, a memecoin on Injective, has launched a $10K rewards campaign for users that connect their Telegram account to its trading bot.
