Movement Monthly Spotlight
HesabPay has launched Visa cards for its customers in Afghanistan that let users spend money at any merchant that accepts Visa. The Afghan payments platform, which settles transactions on Movement, has also launched a digital version of the card that can be used on international e-commerce platforms.
The cards were distributed through local programs, UNHCR and the World Food Programme, in order to establish a confirmed set of users in the Afghan market.
The launch fits neatly with Movement’s focus on building infrastructure for cross-border payments and settlement infrastructure in emerging markets, where it supplies the rails underneath while operators handle distribution.
What’s Move-ing the Ecosystem
MoneyMoves received a grant from the Movement Foundation to build its mobile payment app that uses stablecoins for paying bills, fund transfer, and moving money between crypto and bank accounts.
The platform will use the funds to build its B2B2C infrastructure, including APIs and payment rails that business can integrate.
Richard Mas, founder and CEO of RISE, talked about the company’s collaboration with Movement and Vecino; U.S.-Mexico remittance bottlenecks; and why meeting recipients inside the channels they use matters more than technological upgrades.
Dope Pay now supports Gift Link, letting users send stablecoins to each other through messaging apps or email.
The link creates an account at claim time when the recipient enters their email address. No fees or gas is charged to either party.
