Sei Showcase
💨 What’s happening: Tokenization platform Dinari is now allowing U.S. investors to buy and sell tokenized versions of S&P 500 stocks. Dubbed dShares, the tokenized shares can be bought and sold from self-custody wallets using USDC. The launch includes a number of blockchains and protocols, including Monaco on Sei.
💨 Why it matters: Currently, many tokenized equity products in fact only offer synthetic exposure, as they are designed to mimic the performance of a security, and do not actually represent that stock. While there are tokenized equity products that mirror the actual stock’s performance, those products are mostly restricted to investors outside the U.S.
Dinari has structured its product so that each dShare is backed by a corresponding security held in its custody, which preserves voting rights, dividends, and ownership of the underlying asset.
Dinari said it will roll out support for dShares on Sei “soon.” For the network, such a launch would help it further its work towards its goal of reaching sub-second block times and fast finality.
💨 The bigger picture: The tokenized equity market is currently worth $2.51 billion, with nearly 1 million holders.
There is no dShare volume on Sei yet, so demand for tokenized stocks on the chain is untested. However, Sei does have $289.1 million in tokenized RWAs, so there is some demand for such assets on the chain.
Accelerating Sei’s blockchain
Updates on the latest games, validators, builders and more that are helping Sei expand
Sei implemented its 6.6 network upgrade, reducing median block times to 400ms. The upgrade introduced the Giga hybrid executor as the default execution path, which, in practice, means transactions can confirm faster now without any lag that used to hit a small fraction of transactions.
Sakura Nexus now supports cards from Japanese card issuer JCB, alongside Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. The integration lets the Sei-based game reach local users who often carry it as their only card.
